Wombwell Sporting AC was one of 190 clubs to host a 100 Days to Go event.  The come and try session was delivered by Wombwell coaches and was aimed at bringing new athletes into the club.

Both new and existing members was given the opportunity to try a run, jump and throw.  Despite the rain 20 athletes braved the poor weather conditions and enjoyed the challenges set by the coaches.  As the Yorkshire weather turned from bad to worse the sessions moved inside where athletes was set a number of Athletics 365 challenges. 

 

An additional bonus to the event was the presentation of Wombwell Sporting AC club accreditation award by Club and Coach Support Officer, Emma Brady.  Emma Brady commented, “Wombwell Sporting AC have worked hard over the last 12 months to achieve Accredited Club status.  By going through the club accreditation process, Wombwell Sporting AC have put in place a number of policies and procedures that will help drive the club forward over the next 3 years.  A big thank you, to Janette Tomlins on behalf of the club and England Athletics in pulling this work together”

England Athletics ‘Accredited Club’ status forms part of the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme, ‘Clubmark’. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.
