11.Apr.12 Kettering AC gearing up for Olympics

Kettering Town Harriers AC are hosting a 'Try Athletics Day' to give their community the opportunity to try some Athletics and celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  In conjunction with this, local fundraiser and vice chair of the Northampton Athletics Network is walking for 20 hours and 12 minutes around the track.

The event takes place on 28th April and is open to everyone, with families welcome to enjoy coaching, fun activities and a Barbeque as well as watching Matthew Peleszok take on his 2012 challenge walking around the track just a week after completing the Virgin London Marathon.  Sponsors get entered into a raffle.  Matt will be starting at midnight and finishing at 20:12 (8.12pm) on the 28th.  Matthew hopes to walk over 60 miles and raise funds for the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund (England Athletics supported charity) - which is dedicated to assisting aspiring young athletes who have shown by their attitude and dedication that they possess the qualities which will ensure the growth and protection of sport - and Cancer Research UK.

Are you ready says BobThis event is part of the England Athletics 'Are you ready?' campaign.  If you're not local to Kettering, take a look at our Events section for a fun day near you! (most of these are taking place on 17th April to coincide with 100 Days To Go).
