England Athletics are delighted to announce that from today, 17th September 2012 Julia Bailey will join the South Team on a 12 month maternity contract.
Covering Central and South London, Julia will spend the next year working with clubs, coaches and athletics networks usually supported by Sarah Wade.

Julia joins us from her role as Community Sports Officer for GLL working in Partnership the London Borough of Merton, delivering the community and sports projects and events, attaining funding, leading on the GLL sport foundation for the borough providing support for athletes and identifying coaches with potential for professional development and providing mentoring support. Julia graduated with a BSc Honours in Sports Performance from the University of Bath.

Julia comes from a strong athletics background having competed from a young age as an endurance athlete and is currently a marathon runner. Julia has also volunteered within athletic clubs supporting junior development including successfully implementing Athletics 365 in Team Bath AC and is a Level 2 UKA athletics coach specialising in junior and youth development.

South Area Team Leader, Neil Deans said “We wish Sarah all the best during the coming months and are delighted to welcome Julia into the team for the next year. Julia is really keen to make a fast start into her role and will look to get out into the clubs in her area as quickly as possible in the next few weeks.”
