23.Aug.12 South Cumbria North Lancashire Network clubs gain Club Accreditation
Following on from a lot of hard work the clubs in the South Cumbria North Lancashire (SCNL) network, all have gained Club Accreditation. Kendal Amateur Athletic Club has gone through the re-accreditation process while Barrow & Furness Strides and Lancaster & Morecambe AC have gained the accreditation for the first time.
All three clubs have worked very hard to get the accreditation and special thanks needs to be made to, Margaret Belk, Lisa Screen and Lesley Wright from Kendal, Pat Miller and Simon Stanway from Barrow and Angus Murray from Lancaster & Morecambe. Without the huge effort from these people the clubs would not have succeed in getting this award.
The clubs within the network have really worked well together, sharing ideas and best practice. Tnhey have supported each other along with the extra assistance from network coordinator Rob Thomson and Chris Athersmith - the local Sports Development Officer from Barrow, and also chair of the network.
Chris commented, "As Chair of the South Cumbria and North Lancashire Athletics Network, I am pleased to say that all our clubs (Barrow and Furness Striders AC, Kendal Amateur AC and Lancaster and Morecambe AC) have now achieved Clubmark Accreditation. This is testament to all the hard work the 3 clubs have put into ensuring their clubs now have appropriate policies and procedures in place, to enable them to deliver high quality athletics to their local communities. This is building on the success the Network had last year, of winning the 2011 North West Athletics Network of the Year award."
