This week 16 year old Miles Platting resident Clovis Asong wore a GB vest at the European Youth Olympic festival in Trabzon, Turkey. The Our Lady’s Sports College student is a member of Sale Harriers and coached by Keith Hunter at the Regional Athletics Arena, Eastlands.

20.Jul.11 Manchester team for UK School Games announced
The Manchester team for the UK School Games has been announced. Team Manager Graham Pilkington with help from Keith Hunter have put this team together for the UK School Games which will take place from 1-4 September in Sheffield. The team is made up of athletes from the North West, Stafford and Shropshire.

Manchester McCain Athletics Network part-funded the project to take coaching into the schools to build entries into 2010 Street Athletics. Street Athletics breaks down the significant barriers which prevent youngsters from believing in their own talents and realise ambition.

Manchester McCain Athletics Network were ever present across Manchester’s biggest sporting weekend - Bupa Mini Junior, Manchester Great Run and Great City Games. Club volunteers took on various roles: participants, marshals, officials, volunteers you name it, they did it.

13.May.11 Manchester’s Youth Development – Off to a Strong Start!
A strong cohort of 24 Assistant Coaches and Athletics Coaches from the Manchester Athletics Network Clubs contributed yet more time to raise the quality of provision locally. A range of Clubs coaches took part in the network’s first Athletics 365 Workshop.

09.May.11 2nd North West T & F Championships
The 2nd North West Championships for Seniors & U20s (U17s allowed) will take place on Sunday 12th June at Longford Park, Stretford. This year, U17s will be allowed to compete in the U20 Age Group. and in addition, fully electronic timing and EDM will be used.
