In the run up to the Great North Run in Gateshead at the weekend, young pupils at All Saints College in Newcastle were treated to a visit from top athletes and coaches to hear them talk about their expereinces of the event.

Gateshead Harriers' middle distance coach John Stephenson celebrated the announcement that he has been shortlisted to drive a brand new Alfa MiTo sporty compact for a year by overseeing his charges triumph in last weekend’s Sunderland Cross-Country Relays, reports Newcastle's Evening Chronicle.

North of Tyne (NOTAN) McCain Athletics Network Launch Event will take place on Sunday 17th October. There will be fun for everyone with a Mini Olympics, Family Fun Day and indoor and outdoor Multi-Events, as well as demonstrations. It's free entry and free parking.
