Are we ready? Over the next two years athletics in this country is going to be exposed to the largest shop window in several generations and we need to be ready for the increase in interest in our sport. We must learn from the lessons of other sports and have in place the club infrastructure to deal with more participants and have the volunteers to deal with this.

Avon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire recently held a series of workshops delivered by Dave Rowland (NCM Physical Preperation) and Tim Snowdon (Avon Network Coordinator). The workshops looked at Physical Preparation, and Working With Young Athletes.

The Humber Athletics Network have given the green light by England Athletics and will start delivering their plan on 1st July 2010. The Network has secured £90k over three years to develop athletics in the Humberside area.

17.Jun.10 Somerset Network officially launched
Somerset McCain Athletics Network held its official launch on to coincide with the county Championship at Yeovil track. The network is supported by all track and field clubs and has a very strong road running representation. Funding comes not just from England Athletics but partners in the County Sport Partnership and local council, and clubs also contribute to make the project longer term and invest in their own future.
