    27.May.11 Isle of Wight hosts NatWest Island Games 2011

    The clock is ticking for a major event in Britain this summer.  The Island of Wight plays host to the Nat West Island Games from 25th June to 1st July.  Athletics is a premier event in a programme of 14 sports competitions, involving 4000 participants from 25 islands around the world.

    27.May.11 Athletics 365 workshop prepares for local QuadKids series

    The Greater Peterborough McCain Athletics Network ran an Athletics 365 workshop to prepare for an upcoming QuadKids competition series being run locally.

  • 26.May.11 Full Speed Ahead for the Run! Project

    Rhian Horlock has been appointed Project Manager for the Run! Project to oversee the next phase, the appointment of Run! ‘Athletics Activators.’ Rhian will be working to take forward the project with a priority to having all 10 activators in post across the inner city London Boroughs.

    26.May.11 Networks offered chance to participate in StreetGames workshops

    StreetGames are offering coaches, development staff, or volunteers within McCain Athletics Networks the opportunity to take part in a series of bespoke workshops.   This gives Athletics Networks the chance to develop the knowledge and skills of their volunteers/staff working with priority groups at the local level.

  • 25.May.11 Narrow miss for Harriers in road relay championships

    Isabelle Broughton NYALHerne Hill Harriers finished in 5th place out of 71 teams at the British Masters road relay championships on 21 May missing out on a medal position by a matter of seconds. The 8-man team completed the 3 mile relay course in a time of 2 hours 12 minutes and 58 seconds, just 32 seconds behind 4th spot and 47 seconds away from a bronze medal finish. This was despite recording the 7th and 8th fastest laps on the day.

  • 25.May.11 Ilkley Harrier's Junior Volunteer Training Programme

    Over the last few years several of Ilkley Harriers' older juniors have helped out at the athletics sessions each week.  At the end of 2010 the club decided to give all these junior volunteers the opportunity to gain a 'real' qualification that would not only be useful on a CV but also provide leadership skills for everyday life.
