    The South East region volunteer award winners have been announced.  The celebratory award presentation won't take place until later this year, but the winners are listed.

    Athletics activists and enthusiasts made their way from across the region to attend the 2011 England Athletics East Midlands Awards Ceremony at the Quorn Grange Hotel near Loughborough.

    Katharine Merry will again be hosting our 2011 England Athletics Hall of Fame and Volunteer Awards.  She says, "I am very lucky to have come across many super officials and volunteers who put in the long hours and spend their time being involved in the sport they love." 

  • 12.Oct.11 Sport Makers programme launched in Surrey

    Five-time Olympic Gold medalist, Sir Steve Redgrave, has unveiled a new way for people to become sporting heroes in South London and Surrey.  Our greatest Olympian, has joined forces with Sport England, PRO-ACTIVE London and Active Surrey to launch Sport Makers, a programme for everyone who’d like to make sport happen.

    If you would be interested in volunteering at the weekly 5k event in Alexandra Palace due to start this Autumn then come along and find out about possible volunteer roles and the event route, and join the ever increasing volunteer team.

    07.Oct.11 St. Austell Running Club working with the community

    St. Austell running club has steadily been building links with the community.  The Eden Project and St. Austell running club work together on the Eden project Marathon and Half Marathon, and the most recent liaison with the community is the new partnership and sponsorship deal with Cornwall College.
