The Aviva Sportshall Primary and Secondary County Durham Final events, run by the Sportshall Team on behalf of UK Athletics and supported by Eveque, provided some of the children their first ever competitive athletic experience and others a return to this enjoyable team based event.

20.Jan.10 Hammer Circle winter handicap
Every February the Hammer Circle have a winter handicap competition for teams of up to 4 throwers compete using lighter than normal implements, with scoring based on a handicap system.

20.Jan.10 The future of coach education
UKA in consultation with England Athletics, other home country representatives, UK Members Council and other key partners have carried out a review of coach education in the UK. We are now able to supply more details on what will be happening and when as we work together to produce a better future for the Athletics in this country.

19.Jan.10 Altrincham & District AC awarded Clubmark accreditation.
As a result of gaining their Clubmark, Altrincham & District AC have already attracted 5 new level 1 coaches. They are sharing their knowledge and experience from the process, and are expanding their club development work with the Greater Manchester East McCain Athletics Network.

A Steeplechase coaching masterclass day for both Coaches and Interested Athletes sponsored by the Avon Athletics Network & England Athletics will be held at the University of Bathon 31st January 2010. The day will be led by David Saker at the University of Bath. Free entry.
