Over 80 local athletes battled wind and rain to train at the launch of the new Hampshire & Isle of Wight McCain Athletics Network. Coaches and top performing U15 and U17 track and field athletes from Hampshire and the Isle of Wight came together to take part in a County Coaching Day.

Applications are invited from current active level 3 and 4 javelin coaches who wish to be a part of the National Coach Development Programme. Level 2s who feel that they are able to participate in the programme at this level are also welcome to apply; applications close December 14th.

The 2nd north east Winter squad endurance session was held on Saturday 7th November at Herrington Park. There was a bigger turnout than at the first sessionand feedback was positive.

David Hatch (Moorhaven RC) who has done a huge amount to help physically and mentally handicapped people take up athletics has been recognised for his work - this year he has won the England Athletics (SW region) award for Services to Disability Athletics.
