In the second of a series of Throws Masterclasses, Vesteinn Hafsteinsson, coach to Olympic Discus Champion, Gerd Kantor, held a weekend of Masterclases at Loughborough. This was followed by a series of one to one sessions with the Country's best throwers and coaches, held at Loughborough and Lee Valley.

South Shields Harriers and Athletics Club were presented their Clubmark Certificate by Local CCSO Emma Williams. Obtaining their Clubmark will help the club to continue in its development.

24.Feb.10 Applicants invited to National Coach Development Programme (Heavy Throws)
There are still some places available for coaches to apply for on the NCDP for the Shot, Discus and Hammer. The programme is open to Level 3 and Level 4 coaches, athough Level 2 coaches demonstrating an aptitude toward high level coaching may be considered.

England’s Richard Whitehead destroyed the amputee half marathon world record in Wokingham as he recorded a time of 1 hour 17min and 45sec over the 13.1 mile distance.
