A project to encourage more school based throwers to join an athletics club has recently started in Kent. Level 3 coach Dave Fox will be attending several schools athletics events this summer and providing a throws specific induction programme for identified school based athletes.

06.May.10 Hampshire May Day Athletics Festival
There was a festival atmosphere at the Mountbatten Centre on May Day this year, with an exciting new-style format for the traditional Bank Holiday Multi Event Championships. The Network teamed up with UKA to host an Aviva Parallel Success event, plus Quadkids for U11s, a new 10k event and Open events to the programme.

07.Apr.10 Athletics well represented at Hampshire Sports Awards
Four athletics personalities received awards at this year's Hampshire & Isle of Wight Sports Awards, as the cream of sport from across the county came together for the annual ceremony. Official Stan Burton and athletes Robert Tobin, Charlotte Purdue and Ben McGifford were all recognised for their achievements.

04.Mar.10 Leading coach Geoff Williams presents at Endurance Coaching event
A very informative and detailed Endurance Coaching event was held at Lee Valley Athletics Centre on 3rd March as part of the England Athletics Coach Development Programme. Hosted and organized by Area Coach Mentor David Chalfen, the session was presented by Geoff Williams, the leading coach behind much of Shaftesbury Barnet’s continued success in the various Under 20 age groups.
