Newham & Essex Beagles defended their SEAA 12 stage title in Milton Keynes on Saturday (27.03.2011) at the Saucony SEAA Road Relay Championships. London clubs filled the top five places with Highgate harriers second, Woodford Green & Essex Ladies third, Thames Hare hounds fourth and the 2009 winners Belgrave Harriers in fifth.

The Sport and Recreation Alliance is surveying sports clubs to assess their financial health and have developed a survey which will enable campaigns for reduced rates of VAT for sports clubs, lower utility rates, alcohol licensing costs, music licensing costs, drainage charges, Gift Aid, improvements to the CASC scheme, access to facilities and other important issues for clubs.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games are creating some great opportunities for Athletics clubs in England. England Athletics are looking for clubs and Networks to become delivery partners for the athletics Gold Challenge (part of the London 2012 Legacy). You would gain the opportunity to run Track and Field Team Challenge events for groups of new participants, primarily workplace teams.
