  • 22.Dec.11 Farah looking to end 2011 with another title – and you can help him win!

    Mo Farah is one of 10 people nominated for this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award. The event, and the voting, will be taking place on the evening of Thursday 22 December. Thanks to all who voted - 3rd place for Mo!  Congratulations!

    20.Dec.11 NOTAN host Schools Sportshall Competition

    For the last half term the North of Tyne Athletics Network (NOTAN) have been working with 5 primary schools, coaching their year 3 and 4 children. It has been a very successful term with sessions that were fun and enjoyable for the children giving them a taster of athletics.

    15.Dec.11 Athletics volunteer wins Torch Trophy Trust award

    Nineteen volunteers were recognised for their outstanding dedication and commitment to sport at this year's prestigous Torch Trophy Trust Awards.  This included John Knight - a volunteer who dedicates many hours to athletics.

    14.Dec.11 Sportshall virtual competition opportunity

    Clubs from across the Region have been taking part in Virtual Competition using the Sportshall Award Scheme as a training night activity to prepare for County Leagues and also for the opportunity to be crowned East Regional Virtual Champions.

    The "Run, Jump, Throw" Community Athletics Activator Resource was launched 2 years ago and has proved very popluar across the country.  You can still buy copies of the Resource pack which is ideal for those wishing to run an informal activity or short form competition event in their school, neighbourhood, or community youth project.

    08.Dec.11 Network Coaches' Forum cascades knowledge and techniques

    The Duchy Athletics Network Coaches’ Forum held at Truro Prep School offered the chance for coaches to get some hands on experience of an ‘own body weight strength and conditioning’ session and a ‘plyometrics’ training workshop.
