Run in England is a new initiative designed to promote and sustain mass participation in running, attracting those who would not initially go to a traditional running club. The project, which involves setting up running groups led by qualified leaders, will be delivered through an England Athletics/Women’s Running Network partnership. Our target is to get 50,000 more people running by 2013.

With less than four years until the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, we are set with a unique opportunity and challenge to seize the moment and develop a lasting legacy for the sport in England. This work will focus particularly on supporting and developing a network of effective and resourceful coaches, clubs and volunteers. We are now seeking a high quality Club & Coach Support Officer for the South Yorkshire and Humberside area to help us turn the vision into reality.

With the elite of England’s athletes gathering at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham last weekend for a titanic clash with the other rival home nations for the UK Championships and Aviva World Trials, the discerning athletics fan faced an interesting dilemma – to stay at home and catch the action on television, or to go to Birmingham and view the spectacle live and in the flesh.
