Nineteen coaches from Essex Athletics Network clubs were at the third network coach education workshop held in conjunction with the network’s partner SEEVIC College as the College’s Sam Coombes, himself an active middle-distance athlete, spoke about long term athlete development and motor development.

The Essex Athletics Network’s programme of event specific workshops got underway with sessions on high jump, led by Phil Sergeant, and a coach and athletes hurdles development workshop, run by Steve Mitchell and Tony Benton.

The Lea Valley Athletics Network is sponsoring a series of High Jump Training Days to be held at Lee Valley Athletics Centre, with sessions ideal for coaches new to the event. Coaches are encouraged to attend with their athletes or simply for their own development.

15.Aug.11 Disability Athletics Track & Throws Meeting
Kingston and Poly Harriers and AC are organising a disability athletics meeting including 100m, 200m 400m 800m 1500m, seated throws for Shot, Javelin and Discus and ambulant throws for Shot and Javelin. There will be EDM, photofinish and electronic timing.

03.Feb.11 A level of professionalism and planning
The London and Eastern Region endurance coach development programme continued with a well received event at Barnet Copthall. The theme was ‘Transition from Winter to Summer’ and the day reflected the diversity of the endurance coaches on the area and local mentoring programmes.
