10.Dec.09 Star Studded Coaching Session at the HIPAC
Ivanhoe Robins Junior Athletics Club, winners of the England Athletics Club-Community partnership award this year and 2008's Junior Club of the year, have been busy helping to develop their young athletes. 60 aspiring athletes enjoyed a special coaching Session at Loughborough University, Indoor Athletics Centre (HIPAC) on Saturday 28th November.
England Athletics had organised 2 specialist coaches through the Flying Coaches Scheme to lead on the High Jump and Hurdles session for the 6 young athletes. Steve Hughes, ex International Decathlete, coached a very enjoyable high jump activity, while Phil Fleetwood enthusiastically delivered a number of hurdles routines. Even Geoff Capes, who has represented his Country at 67 International Events and won the World's Strongest Man Title in 1983 and 1985, made a guest appearance at the Shot training discipline and offered the youngsters some very useful tips.
Special Thanks to all of the Robins, who were on their best behaviour, worked hard, had lots of fun – and were a credit to the club.
