To signal the launch of the LCDP programme for the coming twelve months England Athletics hosted three area based coaching conferences. The Midlands and South West area conference was held at the Alexander Stadium and HiPac on Sunday 2nd October.

08.Oct.11 Bristol & West AC regain British Athletics League status
After an absence of 14 years, Bristol & West AC have succeeded in accomplishing their long held aspiration of regaining their status as a member of the British Athletics League (BAL) by finishing runners up in the qualifying match at Abingdon.

07.Oct.11 St. Austell Running Club working with the community
St. Austell running club has steadily been building links with the community. The Eden Project and St. Austell running club work together on the Eden project Marathon and Half Marathon, and the most recent liaison with the community is the new partnership and sponsorship deal with Cornwall College.

05.Oct.11 LCDP Physical Preparation Session delivered in SW
Recently National Coach Mentor Rob Thickpenny travelled to Bristol to meet and deliver a workshop focussing on injury prevention through screening of athletes.

13.Sep.11 South West to host their first traffic management course
The South West region are hosting their first traffic management course for Road Running and XC officials on 26th November in Exeter. The course is being heavily subsidised by England Athletics to assist Road Running organisers with the implementation of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders.

07.Sep.11 DSE team performances up 15% since 2010
For the first time in the history of the Nationwide DSE Junior Athletics Championships the South West team won the team title. With close to 60 athletes it was the largest and furthest travelled team, led by the tireless work of Rob Belbin and Jen Slade.
