Over the last few days the Duchy Athletics Network (DAN) has been busy promoting Run England, launching its 2012 5k Race Series, preparing for Try Athletics Days and sharing good practice to a new member club on how to induct new members into clubs.

One of Yeovil’s stand-out young people has been recognised at the Young Achievers Awards event at the House of Commons. Yeovil’s Tom Minchington, 18, is a winner in the sports category of the Young Achievers Awards, which recognise inspirational young people who have made outstanding contributions in volunteering.

Six disabled athletes have been selected to take part in the School Games 2012 which will be held in the same London venues as this year's Olympic Games.

23.Mar.12 Endurance coaches and athletes in Somerset develop marathon prep skills
Recently 22 athletes and coaches from 8 Somerset clubs attended a Marathon preparation workshop in Taunton led by GB International Marathon runner and endurance coach Adrian Marriott.

Athletes from the South West took home no less than 22 medals including three gold medals when the Aviva England Athletics Open Indoor Under 20, 17 and 15 Championships were once staged at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham

Some ideas and discussion on using video in your coaching with endurance coach and athletics photographer Dr Neil Miller. He is now applying his experience to the video analysis of running technique. This is part of the SW Local Coach Development Programme.
