  • 17.Oct.11 Shaftesbury and Newham lead the way for London in the National 4 and 6 stage road relays

    roadrunning legsThe National 6 and 4 Road Relays – Sutton Park, Birmigham. While Aldershot, Farnham and District were busy retaining both their men and women’s titles, London clubs were also hard at work at Sutton Park, Birmingham.  The 2011 competition saw 75 clubs taking part in what was at times a fierce contest.

  • 12.Oct.11 London 2012 hopeful perfoms world-first long jump over three Mini’s

    J.J Jegede jumps Mini's in LondonYou may have recently seen or heard of Newham & Essex Beagles JJ Jegede. He was the athlete that jumped over 3 minis on the bank of the Thames in front of Tower Bridge as part of a marketing stunt for BMW’s support in the build up to the Olympic Games kicking off in less than 12 months time.
     

  • 12.Oct.11 New QuadKids event at Tooting Bec on the 30th October

    South London Athletics Network logoNew QuadKids event at Tooting Bec athletics track on October 30th. Age groups under 11's and under 13's welcome.  Quadkids includes the four core disciplines of running, throwing, jumping and sprinting - hence 'Quad'. Aathletes' performances are scored against results tables and the team/athlete with the highest cumulative points is the winner.

  • 05.Oct.11 London Heathside hosts another Quadkids at Finsbury Park running track.

    London HeathsideAfter a warm up jog once around the track, the third Quadkids event for London Heathside started at 5pm. 43 children, aged 5 to 13 years, were split into three rotating groups, roughly split by age, to complete the four Quadkids events – the long jump, the vortex howler, the 75 metre sprint, and finally the 600m. The last event finished at around 6:45pm, just before the seniors arrived at the track to start their club training night.

    QuadKidsThe South London Athletics Network hosted a successful Quadkids competition at Tooting Bec Track on Sunday in near perfect conditions. In bright, warm sunshine 117 athletes competed with all SLAN clubs represented in the form of Sutton and District, Herne Hill Harriers, Croydon Harriers, Belgrave Harriers, South London Harriers and Hercules Wimbledon.
