London Region
Regional Event Programme

The regional event and squad programme fits between the County squads and the UK Athletics Talent programme.  U17 and U20 athletes with the required standard and their coaches will be invited to attend squad days.  The days are also open to all coaches, please contact the relevant co-ordinator.

Regional Squads for athletes with a disability

The London Region are working with key partners to deliver a squad programme for athletes with a disability.  Future details and dates will appear here at a later date.

Active Sport / PESSCL programme

The Active Sport programme and PESSCL funding continues to encourage more young people to take part in athletics and make the transition from school activity to the club environment.  

 

Current Activities include:

 

  • Support of community athletics activities e.g. Met-track, London Coaching Foundation and the London Community Athletics partnership.

  • Secondary Schools Sportshall Athletics League (cluster leagues for year 7 pupils, culminating in a regional final in March)

  • Disability Sportshall Project  A series of Norwich Union Shine:award challenges have taken place across London.  In January, SEN schools will be invited to take part in sub-regional Sportshall athletics competitions, with the winners of each competition taking part in a regional final)

  • School-Club links.  Clubs can receive funding of £600 to support development work with their local School Sports Partnership.  Information below.
