The London Region team is working in partnership with local networks to provide opportunities to access athletics across the region.
The schools Sportshall Athletics programme which is run by England Athletics and partners enables young people to access athletics in a fun and safe environment. This year approximately 300 young people are taking part in the programme which includes Norich Union Shine:award Challenges and area competitions, which will culminate in a final in March.
Horizon School and Blanche Neville School have become London Disability Sportshall Champions for 2008. Following a series of local competitions, 10 teams took part in the regional final at Lea Valley High School.
Four teams contested the girls competition with Blanche Neville School taking the title. In the boys competition, the positions changed throughout the day but after some impressive relay running, Horizon pipped Westlea to the title by a single point.
