Northants Clubs prepare for the 2012 legacy

It has been well documented that the London 2012 Olympic Games is a fantastic opportunity to promote athletics to the Nation and has scope to attract more people into the sport.  However, Clubs need to have to be strong enough to cope with the potential influx of new members including new coaches, management committee members, and of course athletes.   Working alongside the Northamptonshire Athletic Network two representatives from each Network club were invited to attend a Whole Club Planning Workshop delivered by Nigel Moore.

At the end of the workshop the following outcomes were be achieved:

  • Identify future requirements for your club’s success
  • Understand the means to address the issue
  • How England Athletics and Northamptonshire Athletic Network can help

Club representatives took an active role in the workshop and communicated their needs and shared good practice with one another.  June Swift, Club and Coach Support Officer, added, “Clubs are at the heart of an Athletics Network. With this in mind the workshop provided a valuable insight  into the needs at club level.  The discussions this evening will help to shape both mine and the Network’s work over the coming months”.
