Workshop: becoming a Volunteer Run Marshal
Now’s the Time, Thamesmead in association with Team Personal Best have organised a free workshop for anyone interested in finding out more about volunteering at a running event.
The workshop will be held on 11th September at Sporting Club Thamesmead, Bayliss Ave, Thamesmead, SE28 8NJ and anyone interested in attending can register for their free place; click here to register.
Participants will then have the opportunity to be a volunteer run marshal at the annual Thamesmead 5k and Family 1mile events on the 17th September and to be paired up with a more experienced volunteer for the day, if they would like to.
There is no commitment to regular volunteering, but if you are interested in more opportunities to volunteer, representatives from local running and athletics clubs, together with local parkruns, will also be invited to attend the workshop to meet potential new volunteers in the sport.
If you have any questions about the workshop, you can contact Stephanie Turner from Now’s the Time on Stephanie.Turner@peabody.org.uk or Lynne Atkinson from Team Personal Best on email@example.com
With London playing host to the first ever back-to-back IPC World Para Athletics Championships and IAAF World Championships and to celebrate this exciting time, England Athletics are running Team Personal Best which will be the public facing campaign of the 2017 Inspiration Programme. Quite simply, www.teampersonalbest.org is a place where anyone can be inspired to deliver an activity with an athletics or running theme and promote it to their local community or even wider. Team Personal Best is all about celebrating grassroots athletics this summer. We will also be working closely with BBC Get Inspired to promote community athletics activity throughout the Championships.
Now’s the Time is a four-year partnership project funded by Sport England’s Community Sport Activation Fund, London Borough of Bexley, Royal Borough of Greenwich, Gallions Housing Association and Peabody, supported by Charlton Athletic Community Trust and a number of venues across Thamesmead. We want you, your family, neighbours and friends in and around Thamesmead to have fun whilst getting fit, whether it’s spending 10 minutes a day cycling to work rather than waiting twice as long for a bus or joining one of our many £1 activities.
