AN EVENING WITH ALAN LAUNDER WELL RECEIVED
The England Athletics East team is pleased to announce that the latest in a line of Event Specific evenings aimed at improving the ongoing support of athletic coaches was successfully received.
Alan Launder, former Australian National Coach and author of the best seller "From Beginner To Bubka" joined us at the Lee Valley High Performance Centre on Monday 25th February to work with coaches from across the region.
We are now in the process of organising our next masterclass evenings. The evening with Alan Launder is now being produced as a technical DVD resource and will be available shortly for purchase.

1st ENGLAND ATHLETICS EAST COACHING CONFERENCE WELL RECEIVED BY THE REGIONS COACHES AND ATHLETES
Over 100 enthusiastic coaches and athletes attended this landmark event as the East region team reaffirmed its support to coach and athlete development as a top priority.
The day itself provided a mixture of practical and theory based sessions led by some of the legendary names in athletics coaching from the past 50 years, supported by our own elite coaches from the East.
LEGENDARY
Legendary Olympic coaches Tom McNab, John Anderson and Wilf Paish OBE were an inspiration to all present and set the standard as they outlined their determination that we should move forward with confidence as a region if we evolve the concepts of partnership, team and technical competence.
CULTURE OF SHARED LEARNING
Regional Manager Chris Jones commented "Today is what we are striving to achieve through our regional approach - to see groups of like minded people, keen to share their skills and experiences for the common good of athletics development is the only way forward. This event gives us hope that we can develop this widescale culture of shared learning: one coaching family for the east region, where collaboration across event groups, clubs and counties is second nature"
Jones continued "The key now is to ensure momentum is kept. I know the plans afoot to deploy the skills of our Event coordination team in counties and local clubs during the forthcoming months will reinforce this commitment to supporting the technical development of coaches"
POWER OF COACHES
The Easts very own 800 metre Paralympian Gold Medal winner Danny Crates launched the regional Athletics plan Building Partnerships:Improving Performance and illustrated the power coaches and community clubs had upon his development as an athlete.
He urged the regions club and county coaches to follow the examples set by successful coaches at international level whose fundamental practices rely upon shared learning and the team ethos.
FUTURE EVENTS
Plans are afoot for a 2nd major coaches conference in late 2007 to build upon this momentum.
The Easts event coordination team will be working with the East team to pull together a plan of event specific masterclass events for coaches during the forthcoming months to maintain interest and learning.
A full conference report will appear here shortly, together with key note presentations and a copy of the conference technical publication.
A conference DVD will be available soon.
