England Athletics East Midlands develops and promotes Athletics in the East Midlands and covers the 5 counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire & Nottinghamshire

Regional Staff
England Athletics East Midlands has a core team of paid staff based at Loughborough University.

Regional Council
As part of the modernising of Athletics in England, nine new regional councils have been created. Each has responsibility for representing the volunteer interests of the sport and in supporting the regional staff to determine priorities for investment. The council is also working towards developing strong links with key partners such as County Athletics Development Groups, Sport England, Private Sector Business and other agencies.

Our Headline Achievements between April 2006 - March 2007

Regional Forums in Road Running, Disability, Officiating and Coaching have been established

Over 200 NEW coaches have been qualified in the region

Over 290 coaches in total have attended courses

135 of the places on coach education courses have been subsidised

275 teachers have attended teacher education courses

Over 600 schools are using Elevating Athletics

Over 18,000 young people receiving access to coaching or competition through development initiatives

The Region has launched a grant aid scheme with £30,000 available for small projects (please see the finance & funding support section for more details)

An athlete scholarship has been set up - £10,000 available (please see the finance and funding support section for more details)

11 community sports coaches are delivering athletic activities in curriculum time and through extra curricular activity
- The first East Midlands Event Programme has successfully been delivered and underpinned by Squads in 4 Counties
- A regional Pole Vault School has been established

There has been a 22% increase in the number of club members under the age of 23

There are 389 qualified officials in the East Midlands

There has been a 200% increase in the number of clubs gaining the Clubmark Accreditation

The regional plan "Raising the bar: Making a difference to athletics in the East Midlands" has been produced
