Schools of Development

Lincolnshire Throws Academy

 

England Athletics East Midlands are teaming up with Lincolnshire Sports Partnership and Geoff Capes and former British & Commonwealth Shot Put record holder Geoff Capes to deliver a number of school and community based throws taster sessions across Lincolnshire. The sessions will cover shot, discus, javelin and hammer and will take place at the following venues throughout July and August:

 

Venue 1: Louth Athletics Club, 30 July, 4.30pm-8.00pm

 

Venue 2: Grantham Athletics Club, 11th August 6pm-8pm

 

Venue 3: Sleaford Striders Athletics Club, 12th August 6pm-9pm

 

Venue 4: Mablethorpe Running Club, 17th August 2pm

 

Venue 5: Boston Princes Royal Arena, 23rd August 10am-12pm & 24th August 10am-12pm

 

Venue 6: Lincoln Wellington Athletic Club, 24th July 6:30pm- 8:30pm & 7th August 6:30pm-8:30pm

 

The scheme is part of a larger project that will see a throws academy being run by Geoff at the Princess Royal Sports Arena in Boston which is jointly funded by England Athletics East Midlands and Lincolnshire Sports Partnership. Dates for the academy are as follows:

 

5th October – initial assessment day

 

2nd November / 7th December / 11th January / 1st February / 1st March / 5th April

Last winter the Regional Pole Vault School was launched with great success. The school is still running every 2 weeks at Loughborough University and has had great success in developing numerous athletes and coaches ranging from those with no experience in the event to others wanting to improve their current performance or knowledge of the event.

 

JUMPS SCHOOL

 

Due to the success of the Pole Vault school we will now be catering for all four jumping events!

 

Please note only pole vault is aimed at complete novices - some experience in the other events is needed.

 

Coaches can obtain scholarships to attend these sessions. England Athletics in the East Midlands will cover travel costs for coaches in batches of four sessions. i.e. Every four sessions a coach attends then will then recive expenses for ALL four sessions.

 

The Long Jump - will take place 6-7pm. 

The Triple Jump - 7-8pm

The High Jump -7-8pm

The Pole Vault - beginner athletes- please contact Alan Richardson for information of local come and try it days as well as Pole Vault School sessions

                     -Beginner to 3m athletes -6-7pm

                     - 3 metres plus please attend 7-8pm

 

 

 

All Sessions will be held at Loughborough University High Performance Athletics Centre and will take place on alternate wednesday evenings.
