27.Jul.10 An exciting, inspiring and engaging talk at Perivale

On Wednesday 21st July at Perivale Park Athletics Track, Perivale, Level 4 Coach Nick Anderson provided an evening seminar for coaches.

The workshop was aimed at Middle Distance and Endurance Coaches from both Track & Field and Road Running backgrounds.

Discussions were focussed around ‘managing the competition season’ for middle distance and endurance athletes.  The session was aimed to get coaches engaging with one another and sharing ideas as well as providing them with an opportunity to ask questions.

Throughout the evening interesting debates occurred including whether endurance athletes should be conditioning through the summer and how to maintain fitness levels throughout this period.  Other discussions centred around  tapering methods for competition across different race distances.  Nick used examples from successes with his own athletes to back up his discussions and one coach commented, "It was a very absorbing 2 hours – Nick could have continued for double this time and we would still have been listening intently.”
